I manage 8 BI analysts who, in many cases, know the technical craft far better than I do. Early in the role I had a choice: pretend otherwise, or lean into it. Choosing the latter changed how I lead entirely. My job became removing obstacles, asking better questions, and making sure their best work had somewhere to go.
